(And, boy, am I glad about it!)
In a few days, look forward to a special announcement and the full details behind the blog’s late-spring hiatus.
Until then, I hope you enjoy the resumption of regularly scheduled programming!
This animation of a mini-lecture (10 minutes) by Professor Philip Zimbardo is worth your while to watch! It’s an exploration of how a person’s perception of time (each of us falls into one of six personal “time zones”) affects his or her lifestyle, health, pace of life, and behavior in the world.
It’s interesting and thought-provoking. The accompanying white-board visuals are fun to boot! Quite honestly, this little video gave me helpful new perspective on people who had previously confounded me. Now I can rest a little easier knowing that we simply inhabit different personal time zones.
Maybe it’s time for me to track down a copy of Robert Levine’s The Geography of Time at the library…

Excellent! The illustrations worked brilliantly and held one’s attention. A marvelous tool … can’t wait to see what else you’ve got up your sleeve!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was very interesting, especially the part about the video games and how schools are analog. Wow, we need to do something about how we teach these youngsters!
Yes, it’s a conundrum! Alternatively, as a culture, perhaps we should reconsider why and how boys are coming to spend over 10,000 hours alone and living in virtual worlds by age 21, and find ways to revise that number downward… Though, given how these things usually play out in this country, changes to the educational system are more likely than reductions in technology consumption, eh?
Well, I survived the 2-1/2 hrs it took to download that little clip on dial-up. Does that mean I passed the test? Nice to have you back, Laurie.
Oh, no! The clip is good, but perhaps not 2.5-hr-wait good!
I’m glad to BE back. And, you’ll be happy to know: I’ve been practicing embroidery stitches today!
It’s interesting.. it makes you think, and he draws so well!
Love!

Someone else had posted this on Facebook and after I saw it I went to the library to check out the Geography of TIme – so funny that you had the same thought! I’ll let you know how it is, I haven’t started it yet.
That someone on Facebook was me! (I liked the video so much, I dared to double-post it there and here.) Yes, yes, please do let me know what you think of the book — our library is fresh out of available copies.
